1. What Information We Collect

Account information — When you register, we collect your username, email address, and password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash).

Profile information — Display name, bio, profile photo, and cover image that you choose to provide.

Content — Videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, and tags that you upload.

Usage data — IP addresses (used for view counting, comment attribution, and security), pages visited, and actions taken on the platform.

Communications — Messages you send to us via the contact form.

We do not collect payment information. AmaVideos is free and has no paid features.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the platform — accounts, uploads, comments, notifications.
• To count video views (per IP per day) and prevent count manipulation.
• To send transactional emails — account verification, password resets, and notification digests.
• To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security threats.
• To display platform-wide analytics to administrators (aggregate counts, not individual tracking).

We will never use your email to send unsolicited marketing without your explicit consent.

3. Cookies and Tracking

We use one session cookie (av_session) to keep you logged in. This is strictly necessary for the platform to function and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

We also store a layout preference cookie (av_layout) to remember your preferred video grid view. This contains no personal data.

If Google Analytics is configured by the site administrator, aggregate usage data may be collected under Google's privacy policy. No individually identifiable data is shared with Google.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers, or fingerprinting technologies.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

Your public profile information (username, display name, bio, avatar, and uploaded videos) is visible to all visitors of the platform as part of the service.

We may disclose information only when required by South African law or to protect the safety of users and the platform.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on servers in our hosting environment. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. Sensitive tokens (email verification, password reset) are single-use and time-limited.

We implement reasonable technical measures including secure session cookies, CSRF protection on all forms, and input validation to protect your data.

No online system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — update your profile information at any time through your account settings.
• Deletion — request the deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.

7. Children

AmaVideos is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us so we can remove the account.

Certain videos on the platform may be marked as age-restricted (18+) by their creators. Viewing age-restricted content requires a registered account.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of AmaVideos after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

For significant changes, we will make a reasonable effort to notify registered users by email.
